Learning to make moccasins was my first step towards birthwork and reclaiming my ancestral teachings around motherhood. I will be forever grateful to the elder who taught me how to make them, nourished me with berries, and shared the traditional teachings that moccasins hold while I was pregnant with my daughter.
Moccasins teach our little ones to walk gently on mother earth. They teach us to leave places the way we found them, or better. They are great for little learning to walk as they allow little feet to feel the floor as they gain balance. The softness of the deer hide is a perfect fit for gentle little feet of babes.
These moccasins were hand sewn using deer hide and sinew. Each moccasin perfectly imperfect.

Keep soles of moccasins dry as they do not have a protective outer layer.
When dressing your newborn baby in moccasins, their feet can become hot and sweaty. Make sure to keep an eye on this when wearing for prolonged periods of time.
